The Search for the Missing Apprentice

Tornado sirens go off in the background. We prepare.

Dice in hand, sheets crisp with intention, and all nerds accounted for. Lil Buffalo rolls the first roll of the night. 14. Oddly neutral. Thunder rolls.

Players got isekaied to a new realm they've never seen before. They woke up in rags on the side of the road. Went to a local tavern and Merida greeted them in her determined fiery red-headed way. She showed them each a room that had starting equipment in it. Basch and King played first getting a quest to go find a missing person.  Novel Rook joined in on that particular quest. Then Lil Buffalo and Boggs joined in a separate section of the campaign going to clear out goblin camps to get some EXP.

Where we left off, King, Novel Rook, and Basch were starting their journey. They took their first quest to go find a missing apprentice. Merlin's missing apprentice. Like from Shrek 3 Merlin. They went to city hall after investigating the retail store of Merlin's. They discovered the apprentice last had contact with a male that was from city hall and had a construct with him. 

Then Boggs and Lil Buffalo went on their little adventure gaining EXP. They murdered a baby goblin in front of his goblin parents and then murdered the mother before the father. They also blocked off exits to a building and basically shot fish in a barrel with those goblins. They're basically psychopaths, but this is DND so we're here for it.

We are going to open with the apprentice section. The players enter the courthouse and see the receptionist Roz.

King

Speaks to Roz and is told to go to the 2nd floor and look for Gandalf. He was last seen with a young male that matches Merlin's assistant's description.

Basch

The party goes up the stairs and all the way to the left. Basch kicks the door. 12. The door rattles in its frame.

King

King bangs on the door. 16. Nothing happens.

Novel Rook

Knocks politely. Gandalf answers. A tall man with a long grey beard stands in the doorway. "What do you need" he asks.

King

Where is the juvenile? Where is Arthur?

Gandalf

He was interested in the constructs and I told him to go find them in the basement.

King

Where is the basement? How do we get there?

Gandalf

Go down the stairs?

Basch

The party goes down the stairs and there is a landing with double doors. Basch opens the downstairs door. A body lies on the floor. Basch approaches the body.

King

King checks with perception and notices nothing.

Novel Rook

Novel pokes the body with the butt of her dagger.

Basch

Basch picks up Arthur and holds him princess style.

King

"What are you doing Arthur? What happened?" The party sees his condition is bloodied and weak.

Arthur

They attacked me...

There are 17 red lights that illuminate in the darkness around you.

Basch

"Hauls ass" out of the room with the rest of the party. The enemy pursues. The party leaves the building and runs all the way to Merlin's. They go inside Merlin's. No one is seen. Not upstairs. Basch puts Arthur in a closet.

Novel unlocks the front door.

King

King says, "let's go upstairs and find a window". King and Novel jump. Novel rolled nat 1 on landing. King catches her. An interdimensional door appears. Peeping through the keyhole, it goes to Hell.

Novel Rook

Novel uses vicious mockery and states " your moms a metal bitch" and then takes off running inside to tempt the Constructs to follow.

Basch

Basch corrals the Constructs.

Novel

Novel runs around to the front door.

King

King shuts the door holds it shut. For an hour. When the door disappears, he falls on his ass.

Novel Rook

Novel gets Arthur from the closet. He is breathing shallowly and is pale.

King

King wraps a sheet around Arthur to halt abdominal bleeding. King goes to the bar and asks about a Paladin. Gets told to go find the one that went after the goblins.

We pick back up tomorrow for the merge of the sections.
